The Journey Down hits that nostalgic adventure fix.

If you’re older than 25 odds are you remember the glorious adventure game renaissance of the 90s. Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, The Dig, Myst, Braindead 13, well the list goes on and on. Those games sadly don’t get the financial backing they used to (Telltale Games aside), but indie dev SkyGoblin Games remembers that adventures games are still fun and have an audience. Their new episodic adventure game The Journey Down is a pretty cool throwback to when a game was just about telling an interesting story with some wacky characters. Laura Shigihara and Roger Hicks Celestial Beings TGS trailer.

Celestial Mechanica is a new cool looking indie title that aims to deliver a mixture of action, puzzle, exploration and adventure while sporting awesome “pixely-goodness”. It can be downloaded here. Thanks Laura for the heads up, and for once again making me fall in love with your music.

Freebird Games is working away on this gem of an indie role-playing title, due out for PC this fall. To the Moon looks like a touching story wrapped in a lovingly old school presentation.
