Halo 4 is joining the bullsh*t retailer specific pre-order thing

I hate this sh*t. Preorder content based on retailers has been one of the worst new additions to modern gaming right along side online passes. Still it’s not stopping Microsoft from joining the trend with Halo 4. EBGames Canada and by association I’d imagine all GameStop retailers are sporting two pre-order exclusives for Halo 4. What they are after the break. *grumble*
343 Industries has revealed the official boxart for Halo 4 and it’s looking gooooooooooooood. Nice to see some actual art and not some damn CG render of a character on a box. Expect to see LOTS of Halo 4 in the next 3 weeks.
Yes, that is Halo 4 and in-engine. From a special event held for certain Halo community members and NFL players. I love that HUD! You can tell that some of the guys from Retro over there that worked on the Metroid Prime series are adding their own special kind of love to Halo.
Halo 4 composers revealed - Neil Davidge and Matt Dunkley

With Halo 4 being a new direction for the series and no longer being helmed by Bungie; long time composer Marty O’Donnell will no longer be producing the enchanting chants that we’ve all come to associate with the series. Taking the series forward, 343 Industries has tapped Massive Attack’s Neil Davidge and composer Matt Dunkley who’s resume includes films Inception, Iron Man, and The Dark Knight. 343 expects to release a new BHS video later this morning revealing some of the duos work on the title so far.

Rumor: Thanks to some not very discreet Italian Gaming Journalists, we have our first details on Halo 4, or not? Not sure, but either way here you go. Make of it what you will Spartan. Rough Google Italian translation ahoy!
Ryan Payton leaves 343 Industries to start up new studio

One of 343 Industries creative directors Ryan Payton has left the Halo developer to begin a new studio called Camouflaj. A studio focusing on smaller titles that don’t need a huge financial investment.
Halofest is this week and it’s kicking off with a new video looking at who 343 Industries are. It looks like the Halo franchise is good hands with some really passionate folks who care about the series. Hopefully Halo 4 will give Halo that new coat of paint it needs.
Halo 4 announced, the start of a new trilogy

Microsoft closed out their press con with a much darker and visually impressive Halo 4 teaser. While I love Halo, a lot, it would be nice to get some new IP’s.
343 Industries on a hiring spree

It seems Microsoft as of late is expanding their studios and even forming new ones. Now 343, the new Halo studio, is going on a hell of a hiring spree for engineers, animators and just about anyone with AAA game development experience. So can we expect to see a new Halo from 343 come 2012? Probably yes.
