Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault announced for PSN
Sony is getting some E3 announcements out of the way with the reveal of a new Ratchet & Clank title coming exclusively to PSN. Full Frontal Assault will be according to Insomniac, “ a return to the classic feel, camera, controls and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play Ratchet”. You can expect the title to hit PSN this Fall.
This is the second part of In Memoriam: a Dead Rising retrospective, looking back on the game’s influence on the reinvigorated popularity of the zombie genre, and the controversial design decisions that defined its core identity.
First - sorry for the long post, but I had a lot I wanted to cram in here.
My love for E3 is a love that borders on creepy obsession. My love for E3 is so cheesy that if it were John Cusack, it would star in a vastly overrated Cameron Crowe film and stand outside the LA Convention Center with a boombox. My love for E3 is such that I actually vacation from my day job and spend the whole week sucking up information and lusting for that one big announcement.
Feature: Interview - Hiptic Games Creative Director and Artist, Long Vo
You may not know artist and developer Long Vo by name but odds are you’ve seen his work. With a long and accomplished history in comics as well as game development with legendary studios like Capcom, Long’s resume is as long (no pun intended) as it is varied. Currently Long has dived head first into the brave and bold world of mobile development as Creative Director for Hiptic Games. Their first title Go Ninja! aims to bring back a bit of the old school action we grew up with on the NES to iOS and Android devices. We talk Ninjas and mobile development with Mr. Vo.
Xbox E3 conference to include world premieres from Capcom, EA, Harmonix, Square, THQ, Ubi
Geoff Keighley is stoking the fires of E3 hype with news that Microsoft’s E3 conference will include world premieres from Square, EA, THQ and even Ubisoft. It’s certainly nice to hear that we’ll be seeing some new stuff from Microsoft this year that may not involve Kinect. Any guesses on what they’ll be?
This is what we’ve come to; teasers for trailers. I ain’t even mad, let the hype embrace me like a warm Taco Bell Chalupa. What? I’m hungry dammit!! Peep the teaser, which looks to hint that protagonist Jason decides to lead a rebellion and take crazy ass amounts of acid.
Prepare to be sucked! Konami's Pre-E3 presser is this Friday morning
Konami’s 2012 E3 conference is the thing of legends. I’ve said this repeatedly but no one can ever come close to that amount of awesome in one sitting. But who knows maybe Konami can pull it out this year in their Pre-E3 conference. You can catch all of the madness this Friday morning. Expected to be at the show is Metal Gear Rising and a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for both PS3, 360 and also one for Nintendo’s 3DS. [Time zones vary by location and I’m not Doctor Who so you’re gonna have figure the time out yourself. PS: Bow Ties are indeed cool.]

Support insane gamers and give to charity all in one swoop
Zeke over at Iron Man Mode contacted me to let me know about their very different take on "Let’s Play" videos. Where usually you’ll see some dude slog through a game and die several times; the group at Iron Man Mode are much more hardcore than that. Nope, you have ONE life. Die and your done, along with their little blog for each game they challenge. It’s a rather cool idea and one that they’re using to raise awareness for Child Play, which is a win win for everyone involved. Go check’em out!
Next weeks begins E3, the biggest week in all the year for gamers. If E3 was a holiday, it would be Christmas, Halloween and New Years all rolled into one and then lit on fire while a man sprayed it with petro; that’s pretty much E3. While reports are coming in that we won’t be seeing anything next-gen related from Sony or Microsoft, we will be taking a first look at Nintendo’s Wii U. While we all care very much about the hardware, it’s nothing without software as Microsoft has shown us this generation, it could be key differentiators between consoles.
Bethesda has joined tumblr with its own Dishonoredpage, complete with animated gifs and swanky looking art. Check it out. Dishonored is one of the most promising new titles this year and we’re more than a little interested to check it out further during E3. Interesting enough, Bethesda has placed the title to go head to head with this years other assassin in October.
The E3 leaks are starting a bit early with this new gameplay footage of Metro: Last Light from 4A Games and THQ. GT had this up a wee bit before the supposed embargo was lifted and quickly took it down. Like all things on the internet though, once it’s there, it is there for good. Metro: Last Light is slated for early 2013 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Next week begins the pre-E3 lapdance of press releases and news, with the champagne room finale starting June 4th. We’ve done a little work on the site and dressed her up like a fancy lady for E3. Watch your dashboard and the site next week and the following for a cornucopia of gaming media and a few pre-E3 interviews from the friendly and slightly sarcastic folks here at Galaxy Next Door. We hope you dig it, because we love you.
Halo 4 is joining the bullsh*t retailer specific pre-order thing
I hate this sh*t. Preorder content based on retailers has been one of the worst new additions to modern gaming right along side online passes. Still it’s not stopping Microsoft from joining the trend with Halo 4. EBGames Canada and by association I’d imagine all GameStop retailers are sporting two pre-order exclusives for Halo 4. What they are after the break. *grumble*
Rumor: Square-Enix leaks Valiant Saga: Final Fantasy
Early last year it was revealed that developer GRIN was working on a Final Fantasy title code named Fortress. It was to be a Western developers take on the Final Fantasy tropes of old. Rumor for now, but the project may have continued life after GRIN’s demise and handed off to EIDOS under the new title of Valiant Saga: Final Fantasy. The fantastic news for Final Fantasy if true, is that the title will take place in one of the most beloved Final Fantasy universes ever, the world of FFXII also known as Ivalice. This is all rumor for now but if true expect first details at this coming E3. Again, this could all be faker than my grandfather’s teeth, which are pretty damn fake. So don’t get your hopes up.
